digital practice

I am going to paint her portrait this weekend and wanted to get familiar with her likeness. Working loose digitally is fast and easy to make changes, but my true love and enjoyment is still working with real paint!

Hey Bill, I really dig the values and angularity of this one. The cool light on the right of her face is also a juciy touch.

This is beautiful, Bill. I love how you described her face with bold, flat shapes, yet captured the fragility of her femininity at the same time.

I like the colours that you are using, usually this would not be my taste but yours is very unique

Hey Bill, I saw some of your work while on a trip to California where I grew up and had to buy your book. I love the loose sketches and how you seem to be able to capture the soul of the woman you are drawing. I am trying my hand at people and working with charcoal for the first time. Thank you for the inspiration.
